梅心怡：馬英九拒絕達賴喇嘛訪台是好消息！

馬英九拒絕達賴喇嘛訪台是天大的好消息！

為什麼呢？因為連同國際上支持野草莓者，我們即將看到的是愈來愈多國際上對於台灣究竟發生什麼事的關注，感謝馬英九拒絕達賴喇嘛訪台。

十一月十五日在自由廣場我說過；這個廣場不僅屬於台灣，也屬於全世界的。我也指出如果去看世界上各個所謂的民主國家，會發現政府並未為人民發聲，就像今日的台灣一樣。

證據就在眼前。想一想。世界上除中國以外幾乎所有國家都將台灣視為一個國家。去到世界上任何一個地方，如果有人問你是哪國人，你會回答「台灣」，這才是最重要的事。就是這麼簡單。所以，一方面你所擁有的是世界上其他國家人民對台灣的認識，另一方面所面對的是他們國家的政府並未認知他們人民所認知的台灣。這樣我們怎能稱呼這些國家「民主」呢？他們已經被強大金錢權力所腐朽。

這就是為何Ginru Lee 在休士頓的行動是這麼重要。她並沒有去找她的國會議員幫忙，國會議員無論如何都不會仔細聆聽她的訴求，除非他認為她可以幫他在下一次競選時召集籌辦募款餐會。相反的，她走向當地的國際特赦組織。

眾人們！這就是我們要做的──把行動帶向人民。人民對人民的結合，一旦可以運作，就可以結束這個累人的、經年的對腐朽政治人物的追逐，甚至在我們還無法通過他的秘書哪一關時，他就已經賺飽荷包。

野草莓給我們一個大好機會從事人民對人民的草根工作。學生組織應該列入我們的優先工作，還有人權相關非營利組織等等。

還有達賴喇嘛！
有人不知道達賴喇嘛在全世界各地所獲得的好感嗎？
我們怎麼可以不利用這個事件，去告訴全世界馬英九是如何差一點就要把台灣交給中國了，向中國傾斜?
在世界上每個城市都可以找到達賴喇嘛的支持者，所以讓我們出發去和他們聯繫。

所以，我們向達賴喇嘛道歉，他的台灣行程可能稍微延後，但一定可以歡迎他下一次的到訪。讓我們為這件事以及我們這個不敢自稱自己為「總統」、愚蠢到和北京一樣犯錯的總統感到高興。這個總統一天比一天更不像個總統。

Dear Ocotots and Ocotettes,

Ma’s banning of the Dalai Lama is wonderful news!

Why? Because, together with the building support for the Wild Strawberries internationally, now what we are going to see is growing international attention to what is really going on in Taiwan thanks to this rebuff of the Dailai Lama.

On November 15 at Liberty Square I said that the Square belongs not only to Taiwan, but to the world. I also pointed out that if you consider the different “democracies” of the world, you will notice that, just as in Taiwan today, the governments do not speak for the people.

The evidence for this is right before our eyes. Consider this. Virtually all of the world’s peoples outside of China recognize Taiwan as a country. Go anywhere in the world and if someone asks you what country you are from, and you say “Taiwan,” that is the end of the matter. Pure and simple. So what you have is the people of the world recognizing Taiwan, on the one hand, while their governments do not recognize Taiwan on the other. How then can we call them democracies? They have all been corrupted by the big-money power!

That is why Ginru Lee’s action in Houston takes on so much iomportance. She did not go to her congressman, who in any case is not inclined to listen to her unless he thinks that maybe she can put together a fund-raising dinner come next election campaign. Instead she went to her local Amnesty International firend.

People! This is what we must all be doing — taking the movement to the people. People-to-people connections, once consumated, can put an end to this tired, year-in-and-year out chasing after corrupt politicians who are already in someone else’s pocket long before we even get past their secretaries.

Wild Strawberries offers us an excellent opportuunity to do this people-to-people grassroots work. Student organizations should be at the top of our list, and human rights NGOs, and so on.

And the Dalai Lama! Does anyone on this list need telling that he has an enormous repository of goodwill worldwide? Can we not use this to show the world just how close Ma Ying-jeou has come to turning over Taiwan to the PRC? Dalai Lama supporters can be found in every city of the world, so let’s get out and connect up with them.

So, with apologizes to the Dalai Lama for the slight delay that this may mean for his next visit to Taiwan, let’s rejoice in this latest and most stupid of Beijing-like blunders on the part of our “president” who is afraid to call himself “president.” Indeed, he is looking less and less presidential every day!
